Bearing the stamped copyright of International Film Service on its reverse, this 8" x 10" photograph served as a springboard visual report of the assembled American League champions of 1917. These were the invincible and exciting White Sox who were, as the typeset caption attests, "soon to do battle with the Giants on World's Series diamonds." Also detailed on the typeset are the identities of all these splendid stars.
The photo is of the Type I variety -- developed about immediately from the original negative.

A genuine antique of the highest order, this photograph is characterized by pervasive, but acceptably harmless creases - minute, superficial fissures, none of which fracture the top ply, and none of which remotely detract from any of the player images. Those qualifications disclosed, the piece would be welcomed into the most accomplished collection at Excellent.

For the facility of our readers, we provide here a complete listing of these pictured champion White Sox (do note, however, that the typeset detailing, which is firmly affixed to the reverse, garbled many of these names):

Back row, left to right - Kid Gleason, Ray Schalk, Eddie Collins, Chick Gandil, Joe Jenkins, Fred McMullin, Eddie Cicotte, Shano Collins, Eddie Murphy, Dave Danforth, Lefty Williams, Byrd Lynn, and Reb Russell.
Front row - Joe Benz, Swede Risberg, Buck Weaver, Joe Jackson, Hap Felsch, Jim Scott, Pants Rowland, Rowland's son (the mascot), Ted Jourdan, Mellie Wolfgang, and Nemo Leibold. (Mound ace, Red Faber didn't make it for this photo shoot.)

As is evident, the '17 White Sox roster fairly mirrored the 1919 team -- those of glory and those of infamy -- to include all of the eight who were exiled in 1920.
