Legendary August Live 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on: 8/5/2010

Each card has been graded by SGC. These glossy-surfaced insert cards were produced in 1915 by the American Caramel Company based in York, Pennsylvania. Utilizing the same players and designs that were commissioned on earlier issues, this production is one of the few to have representatives of the short-lived Federal League. Completing this set has proved to be a difficult endeavor for the most advanced caramel-card collector.

Offered is the finest 1915 E106 American Caramel complete set to be made available at public auction, and arguably the finest complete set in the hobby! The famous hobby pioneer Lionel Carter had a complete set of these, and his set's composite fell short of an overall VG assessment. This impressive set, confirmed by its 54.38 GPA, is nearly a grade and a half higher than the Carter set! Legendary Auctions is proud to offer this incredible set to the collecting public. The top registry spot (on both major registries) is up for grabs—who wants the top honor?

The player composite and the cards' grades include: SGC 70 EX+ 5.5: 4 cards w/Bridwell, Evers, Schaefer and Stanage; SGC 60 EX 5: 21 cards w/Barry, Bender/White Hat, Bresnahan, Bush, Cobb/Facing, Cobb/With Bat, Collins, Crawford, Donovan, Dooin, Doyle, Fromme, Knabe, Lobert, Marquard, McQuillan, Miller, Oakes, Plank, Speaker and Tinker/Batting; SGC 50 VG/EX 4: 15 cards w/ Bender/Striped Hat, Chase/Catching, Chase/Portrait, Demmitt, Engle, Gibson/Back View, Gibson/Front View, Hartzell, Jacklitsch, Lajoie, Stovall, Wagner/Batting, Wagner/Throwing, Wiltse and Zimmerman; SGC 40 VG 3: 8 cards w/Bescher, Doolan, Jennings, Mathewson, McGraw, Murphy, Sweeney and Tinker/Portrait.
