This spellbinding composite photographic panel illustrates the members of the 1910 World Champion Philadelphia Athletics team, along with manager Connie Mack and an incredible center scene showing some of the squad's special "fans." The piece’s central photographic component measures approximately 11" x 14"; a title, "The Athletic Base Ball Team - Winners of the American League Pennant of 1910," appears at the top of the photo’s 13-1/4” x 16-1/4” printed cardboard mount. A 5-3/4” x 7-1/4” candid shot, placed inside the surrounding rectangle of ballplayers, shows U.S. President William Howard Taft and other dignitaries enjoying the game. Their smiles and applause are explained by a lower edge caption reading, "Tremendous enthusiasm when Eddie Collins knocks a slashing three bagger to the right field fence winning the game." (The caption also identifies this inset’s subjects – from left to right – as “Secret Service Officer – Pres. Taft. – Capt. Butt/Sec’y Knox – Pres. Hadley of Yale – C.P. Taft.”) The 22 team member portraits, each measuring 1-1/4" x 2-1/4", are highlighted by the likeness of Hall of Fame second baseman Collins at the extreme upper right. Other A's Hall of Famers shown are Eddie Plank, Chief Bender and Frank Baker. The sheet concedes a very light crease at the right side, with a 3/8”-long, associated separation at the photo sheet’s edge (with neither fault affecting player images) and projects minimally EX overall presentation quality. Attractively matted and framed to 19-1/2" x 23-3/4" total dimensions. This lot is subject to a reserve.
